Hortense Miller Art Show and Sale 2025

All current Members of SOCALPAPA are invited to enter and participate in a show and sale of artwork this fall at the Hortense Miller Garden in Laguna Beach, CA. This is a show for those who have taken advantage of the opportunity to visit and paint at the gardens throughout the year.

SOCALPAPA and Hortense Miller Garden are presenting a show and sale opportunity for artists this fall.

This non-juried show will consist of a maximum number of 20 artworks by SOCALPAPA artists.

Paintings must be of the Hortense Miller Garden property, or a view from the property, captured during visiting hours.

Paintings can either be plein air or studio paintings.

All works will be displayed in the Hortense Miller Aviary Gallery, inside the historic Mid-Century Modern home built by the Millers in the 1950s.

This is a non-juried show for SOCALPAPA members only.

All paintings must be for sale, and all sales must be handled by the artist directly with the client.

There is one more painting date on the calendar:
Saturday August 30

Meet August's Special Guest Artist: Danny Folkman

While I enjoy painting all kinds of scenery, LA is my lady.

We first met on a family vacation when I was 14. Growing up in New Jersey, I can't say I had been particularly inspired by the overcast skies and flat suburbs of the east coast. The year-round sunshine, diverse scenery and laid-back lifestyle of Southern California seemed like paradise. I was smitten.

I have been drawing as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until my junior year of high school that my art teacher pushed me to start painting. I did not attend any art school or college, but instead sought instruction from my favorite professional artists through books, workshops and online courses. The workshops gave me the opportunity to explore the country and solidified my love for plein air painting and the west coast.

I thank God every day that I get to live in the place I love to paint.

Join Danny on Friday, August 22 @ 10:30am
