San Joaquin Show 2024

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

SOCALPAPA will be having a December Display Show, with awards, open to ALL Members, at the San Joaquin Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary.

Details and a prospectus are coming soon! This special announcement is to give you time to visit the marsh and begin painting for the show. Active members may submit 2 paintings, plein air or studio. All work must be of the marsh, the gardens, buildings, or the birds and other wildlife at San Joaquin Marsh.

Get out and paint! There will be a scheduled paint out in November, but you can get started now as the area is open to the public from dawn to dusk daily.

*Note - this is the same location as the Quick Draw event last year.

This year will be a display show and NOT a quick draw.

Saturday,October 19
Salt Creek Beach
Dana Point
 
9 am.   Go South from Crown Valley Parkway about a mile on PCH toward Dana Point, go Right into the Ritz Carlson Drive-- Salt Creek Park lot.
Walk down thru the tunnel down past the Salt Creek Park to the Beach.
Views South towards the Ritz Carlton cliff, or North up the beach.
Restrooms by the beach.
Friday, Oct. 25
Newport Beach Fun Zone
by the Ferry Landing
 
9am. Take 55 Fwy/Newport Ave. South  across PCH onto the peninsula down Balboa Blvd., about a mile, go Left on Washington to street parking on Bay Ave or the metered pay parking lot.
Walk over to the Bayfront Path by the Ferry landing, and Fun Zone.
Views of Harbor activity or Fun Zone itself.  Restrooms nearby.
Saturday, October 25th 
SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST DEBRA HUSE
3pm - 5pm
Balboa Island
 
Join award-winning artist Debra Huse for an instructional oil painting demo on Balboa Island.
Debra is a plein air painter acclaimed for her joyful use of color and bold brushwork. Her work has been featured on the cover of Southwest Art Magazine, Plein Air and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines and has been exhibited in over 25 magazines.
 
Meet at the seawall near Topaz, on Balboa Island.
