End of the Range: Charlotte Skinner in the Eastern Sierra

Organized by Kolin L. Perry, curatorial assistant at the Nevada Museum of Art

SOCALPAPA invites you to join with other members and the public for a gallery talk by Kolin L. Perry, curator of the exhibition.

We will meet as a group to listen to Kolin Perry's talk and view the exhibition. Following his presentation, Perry will answer questions and speak with visitors and program attendees.

This program is free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required.

Saturday,October 5

Balboa Island

Opal Ave Public Pier

9am. Take Jamboree S from 405 or 5 Fwys down past PCH over the bridge onto Balboa Island (Marine Ave).

Go Right on Park Ave 8-9 blocks and go L on Topaz to the end. Watch for the side with no parking on street sweeping days.

Find a spot, and park as close as you can to the bay. Walk R on the Bayfront path one block up to the public pier by Opal Ave.

Stay off private piers.

Paint across the water towards the Pavilion and boats.

If the tide is low, you might paint from the sand.

Restrooms one block farther up at the Ferry landing.

Friday, October 11

San Joaquin Marsh

Irvine

9am. Take 5 or 405 Fwy South off Culver Ave. one mile, go Right on University Dr., go 1/2 mile and go Right on Campus Drive, go over creek bridge and make immediate Right on Riparian View.

Go about 1/2 mile and go Left just before the gate, down into the left or right lots.

Paint the Audubon building, or marsh views of numerous ponds.

This could be a good familiarization for a possible upcoming Socalpapa show-- and the Francis oil workshop the following two days,

October 12-13. Restrooms by the Audubon Building.

Salt Creek Beach

Dana Point

Go South from Crown Valley Parkway about a mile on PCH toward Dana Point, go Right into the Ritz Carlson Drive-- Salt Creek Park lot.

Walk down thru the tunnel down past the Salt Creek Park to the Beach.

Views South towards the Ritz Carlton cliff, or North up the beach.

Restrooms by the beach.

Friday, Oct. 25

Newport Beach Fun Zone

by the Ferry Landing

9am. Take 55 Fwy/Newport Ave. South across PCH onto the peninsula down Balboa Blvd., about a mile, go Left on Washington to street parking on Bay Ave or the metered pay parking lot.

Walk over to the Bayfront Path by the Ferry landing, and Fun Zone.

Views of Harbor activity or Fun Zone itself. Restrooms nearby.
