Reminder: September Meeting of the Board
Club bylaws require the Executive Board to post notice of all Membership and Board Meetings.
  
All active club members are welcome to attend board meetings.

Francis DiFronzo 2-DAY Plein Air Workshop

is FULL


DATES: SEPTEMBER 7 & 8, 2024

TIME: 9:30am – 4pm both days

LOCATION: Irvine Regional Park, 1 Irvine Park Drive, Orange, CA 92869


A two-day, plein air painting workshop forth new and  experienced plein air painters. Francis will demonstrate how to begin with acrylic paint to swiftly capture the outdoor scene in a medium that dries quickly. He then transitions to oil paint to refine and complete the  painting. Francis spends time with each student, tailoring his lessons to support each students’ skill level and individual needs. The goal is for students to experience the joy of plein air painting using a process that is frustration-free, repeatable, and rewarding.

Friday, August 30
San Clemente Pier
 
8am. Take the 5 Fwy  S into San Clemente, off at Ave. Presidio, S to El Camino Real, go L a couple blocks and R on Delmar S one mile to pier metered parking.
Paint the pier itself, or paint views from the pier. Restrooms at foot of pier.

Friday, Sept 6th
Crystal Cove Cottages
Newport Coast
 
9am. Take PCH to Los Trancos parking lot, about a half mile south of Newport Coast Drive.
$15 Entry, unless you have a valid Senior Golden Bear Pass.
Park and put your pass on the dashboard.
Take the shuttle down across to the cottages for $2, or walk down under the tunnel to the cottages.
Paint the bluffs south or beach activity, or north to the construction on the newly restored cottages. 
Restrooms. You may want to stay for lunch at the Beachcomber or climb up to the Shake Shack. While you are here, visit the Gallery and Gift shop, with many Plein air artworks on display and for sale.

Saturday, Sept 14th
Laguna Beach, N end of Divers Cove
Laguna Beach
 
8am. Take PCH into Laguna, go South on Cliff Drive at the Laguna Art Museum or Las Brisas Restaurant,
go North to the North end of Divers Cove. Metered parking, or you may find a free residential spot if getting there early.
Paint the iconic Divers Cove cliffs to the south. Restrooms near on the path above.

Friday, Sept. 20
Dana Point Headlands or Harbor/Jetty
Dana Point
 
9am. Take the 5 Fwy S to PCH into Dana Point, past the Archway entry and make the first Left at Dana Point Harbor Drive.
Go about one mile to the end at the Ocean Institute parking lot.
Restrooms by the lot.  

Saturday, Sept 28th
El Moro Beach, North Laguna, Crystal Cove State Park
Laguna Beach
 
9am.Take PCH North of Laguna Beach to the light at the school/ State Park Ranger Station road.
Go North and curve Right to the entry gate, pay $15 entry or use Golden Bear pass.
Drive down to the parking lot on the North side of pedestrian tunnel under PCH.
May need to remove shoes if the tide has put water in the tunnel. 
Restrooms on the North side of the highway.
Paint iconic Abalone Point, some beach activity.
