Back Bay Quick Draw Competition 2024

It's time to Register for the SECOND Hortense Miller Garden, Laguna Beach

The first SOCALPAPA Hortense Miller Summer Display Show is now open at the Hortense Miller Garden in Laguna Beach.

We are getting great comments about the art.

Registration is now open for the second show to be on display from

August 3 to August 31.

This is a non-juried show for SOCALPAPA members only!
All works must be of the Hortense Miller Garden property or of views from the property. Works can be either plein air or studio. This display space is limited, so register soon. Contact Dawn Buckingham or Jim Ellsberry if you have questions.

Register to paint by emailing Diane Lannon, diane.lannon@gmail.com.

You may paint at the garden even if you do not plan to enter the show.

Artists meet Diane at Riddle Field at 9:00 am and may paint until noon.

Painting times must be scheduled and are available on the following dates:

Thursday, July 18
Saturday, Aug 10
Thursday, Aug. 29

SOCALPAPA's classes are now live on EventBrite for the Back Bay Festival!

As part of the Back Bay Festival, SOCALPAPA artists will present two morning classes

for children with all materials supplied.

Additionally, an adult pastels class and an adult oil class will be presented by SOCALPAPA artists.

Adult Classes: All materials are supplied and participants will take home a completed painting at the end of class. $10 materials fee.

Tues, July 16, 10am-12pm - oil class with Karen Wadsworth

Wed, July 17, 10am-12pm - pastel class with Mike Major

Children's Classes: Art instructors will provide students ages 7-12 with an unforgettable fine art experience. All materials are supplied and participants will take home a completed painting at the end of class. Donations accepted.

Thurs, July 18, 10am-12pm - acrylic with Ellen Emmer

Fri, July 19, 10am-12pm - acrylic with Sandra Morrison

All classes are held at the Peter & Mary Muth Interpretive Center, Newport Beach.

8am.Take PCH into Laguna and Cliff Drive through Heisler Park to the North end of Divers Cove. Metered parking-- or if early enough, some spaces in residential parking.

This is the July 4th weekend, get there early.

Look for the sign for Fisherman’s Cove behind the big condominium jutting over the cliff.

Should be Socalpapa Flags there.

Walk around to the small beach cove for views, depending on tide, of the gazebo, old Kayaks and Hobie Cats.

Restrooms over in middle of Divers Cove.
