All paintings will be displayed in Muth Center July 13 - 19, 2024

Hortense Miller Garden, Laguna Beach


TWO (2) Shows this summer!


TWO show-and-sale opportunities this summer at Hortense Miller Garden:

 

June 8-July 6

 

and

 

August 3-31

 

These are non-juried shows, each with a maximum number of 20 artworks per show.

Paintings must be of the HM Garden property or views from the property,

plein air or studio works from your studies or your photos.

Enter ONE or BOTH shows. Submit a maximum of 2 works for each show… at least one

work selected per a show (see Prospectus on our Hortense Miller ART SHOW 2024).

**Our last official OC Park Location for the Juried Show artists;  Juried show entry deadline is June 7 .**.

SOCALPAPA President Emeritus Jim Ellsberry will be demonstrating his oil painting skills at this upcoming Quick Draw Back Bay Location. Take the 73, or 405, or 5 Freeways, off at Jamboree Road S into Newport Beach.

Make a R on San Joaquin Hills Road and R on Back Bay Drive.

Go about 1/2mile to the Big Canyon Parking lot where Jim will be set up. Port a potty by the lot.

About our demonstrator:

 

"Acrylic to Oil en Plein Air"

Jim Ellsberry is a SOCALPAPA President Emeritus and the current Education Programs Coordinator.

He will demonstrate the use of water-based media to sketch and lock in his painting composition, followed by the use of traditional oil paint to further develop and refine his painting. Jim will talk about how this approach is inspired by SOCALPAPA member Francis DiFronzo who will teach an upcoming 2-day plein air workshop in September (information coming soon).

  6700 E Walnut Canyon Road, Anaheim CA 92807
 
8 am.  Take the  91 Fwy towards Riverside, go South on Imperial Hwy, about 1/2 mile and go L on Nohl Ranch Road.
Go about 1 mile or so and go Left at the sign for the Anaheim Hills Golf Course, which is Walnut Canyon Road.
Go about a mile to the end at the Center parking lot. Restrooms by the lot.
Paint the twisted oaks and creek and falls, all in shade.

Laguna Beach Rock Pile/Split Rock

8am. Take 133 South into Laguna Beach, go Right at PCH, up the hill and Left on Jasmine.

Go to the end at Heisler Park and park in metered parking. Meet just below just the flagpole on the walkway above the Rock Pile in the water below. Or there are views South and North from the flagpole. Restrooms close by.


Saturday, June 29

Laguna Beach
 
8am. Take PCH into S. Laguna, go S at Wesley into the pay Parking Garage.
Or park at the meters or the small parking lot across the street.
Walk down the cliffside path to the Keyhole, or paint South towards Aliso Beach, or go down ramp to the beach if the tide is out.
Restrooms along the path.
