About Jason Li:
Jason Li is an accomplished and award-winning watercolor artist.
His watercolor paintings have been well known for the exquisite technical
skill. He captures the transcendent moment of the magical light, swift
movements of water, and the rich texture with refine details. His paintings
channel his affection for the power and beauty of nature. As a gallery
director describes his artworks as “unmatched precision and capture a
wistful dreamy quality”.
Jason’s artworks exhibit at regional and national galleries and museums.
He has been commissioned to paint a large watercolor mural in hospital,
invited to some high-profile Plein Air Invitational events. Such as Laguna
Plein Air Invitational, received 1 st place of LPAPA 2024 “Best of Plein Air”
Art Show juried by well know museum director Mr. Jean Stern. His
paintings had been featured in PleinAir Magazine. His art inspires so many
people, brings comfort and joy.

The SOCALPAPA, Newport Bay Conservancy and OC Parks
annual Back Bay Plein Air Festival is back again this July 13-21st.
Events will include:
July 13-19 : SOCALPAPA Artists Juried Show, Geoff Allen juror
July 13: Quick Draw Competition, Open to the Public & SOCALPAPA artists
July 16-19: A week of Art Classes for Children & Adults
July 19: Artists' Reception & Awards
and
July 20 & 21: Weekend Show & Sale
Last year, over 1,200 people visited the Festival and participation in events was high. Over 40 paintings were sold, and over $2,000 in cash and prizes were awarded. This year, the Quick Draw will be held at Big Canyon & the Muth Center, and we have other amazing things planned - we expect another successful festival! We hope you will join us for some or all of the events!

Weekend Show & Sale and Juried Show - Registration is open until May 31st.

Hortense Miller Garden, Laguna Beach
TWO (2) Shows this summer!
TWO show-and-sale opportunities this summer at Hortense Miller Garden:
June 8-July 6
and
August 3-31
These are non-juried shows, each with a maximum number of 20 artworks per show.
Paintings must be of the HM Garden property or views from the property,
plein air or studio works from your studies or your photos.
Enter ONE or BOTH shows. Submit a maximum of 2 works for each show… at least one
work selected per a show (see Prospectus on our Hortense Miller ART SHOW 2024).

9 am. 2301 N Kraemer Blvd, Placentia, 92870. Off the 57 Freeway, go East off the Yorba Linda offramp,1/2 mile and go Left on Kraemer Blvd. about a mile and left into the Tri City Park in Placentia.
Look for the SOCALPAPA Flags at the left turn once in the park.

Off the 57 Fwy, go E on Yorba Linda, about a 1/2 mile, go L on Kraemer one mile or so, go L into the park.
Jason Li will be doing a watercolor demo for us near parking lot A.
After entering the park, go left at the first turn near lot B, go past that around to Parking Lot A, where Jason will set up there.
See the Flags at the turn inside the park, and at Lot A by the location.
Restrooms near the entrance.
If there is time-- stay after and paint the lake, and trees on your own.

SOCALPAPA President Emeritus Jim Ellsberry will be demonstrating his oil painting skills at this upcoming Quick Draw Back Bay Location. Take the 73, or 405, or 5 Freeways, off at Jamboree Road S into Newport Beach.
Make a R on San Joaquin Hills Road and R on Back Bay Drive.
Go about 1/2mile to the Big Canyon Parking lot where Jim will be set up. Port a potty by the lot. | | | | Saturday, June 15

6700 E Walnut Canyon Road, Anaheim CA 92807
8 am. Take the 91 Fwy towards Riverside, go South on Imperial Hwy, about 1/2 mile and go L on Nohl Ranch Road.
Go about 1 mile or so and go Left at the sign for the Anaheim Hills Golf Course, which is Walnut Canyon Road.
Go about a mile to the end at the Center parking lot. Restrooms by the lot.
Paint the twisted oaks and creek and falls, all in shade. | | | | Friday, June 21

8am. Take 133 South into Laguna Beach, go Right at PCH, up the hill and Left on Jasmine.
Go to the end at Heisler Park and park in metered parking. Meet just below just the flagpole on the walkway above the Rock Pile in the water below. Or there are views South and North from the flagpole. Restrooms close by.

Or park at the meters or the small parking lot across the street.
Walk down the cliffside path to the Keyhole, or paint South towards Aliso Beach, or go down ramp to the beach if the tide is out.
